FinDreams Battery and Circulor advance readiness for EU Battery Regulation through recent joint project

New collaboration readies companies for regulatory requirements, including battery passports, while accelerating sustainability and operational efficiency objectives

LONDON, November 13, 2024 —FinDreams Battery and Circulor, the leading supply chain traceability and battery passport provider, have successfully delivered on the Global Battery Alliance pilot, as a step towards preparing for the EU Battery Regulations. FinDreams Battery is a subsidiary of BYD, the world’s top selling electric vehicle manufacturer.

This collaboration is valuable in supporting FinDreams Battery in meeting growing global regulations –starting with the EU Battery Regulation and its battery passport requirement, which will be required for all electric vehicles (EVs) sold in the EU by February 2027.

The partnership involves BYD and FinDreams Battery onboarding their battery supply chains to the Circulor platform to provide material traceability, carbon emissions, and due diligence data needed to create digital battery passports. In the specific collaboration for the Global Battery Alliance, FinDreams Battery integrated key supply chain and production data to create material traceability on Circulor’s platform.

The companies also conducted ESG evaluations across these supply chains in relation to child labor, human rights due diligence, biodiversity, circularity, forced labor, and indigenous rights, then they explored effective disclosure for battery passport data with other industry participants.

“Implementing the full Battery Passport and underlying material traceability with Circulor helps us and our suppliers prepare for the upcoming Battery Regulations. We are now in a position to better support our OEM customers and demonstrate the provenance and sustainability of our batteries.” says Zhang Shoubo, FinDreams Battery Deputy Director

This collaboration also includes the implementation of the Battery Pass project’s “Battery Passport content guidelines”—the effort funded by the German federal government for holistic guidance on digital battery passports, as mandated by the EU Battery Regulation.

“The lead time for OEMs, battery producers and their suppliers to be ready for upcoming regulations is quickly shortening. BYD and FinDreams Battery’s Battery’ initiative and foresight to start early provides them and their supply chains with a great foundation to expand and scale across their product range and global markets,” says Yue Jin Tay, Vice President of APAC.
