Building Better Batteries

At the recent SAFE Summit, Circulor’s Douglas Johnson-Poensgen, Aimee Boulanger, Executive Director of Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) and one of our customers Jeff Werner, VP Corporate & Government Affairs of Panasonic North America, discussed the fundamentals of how traceability is building a ‘better’, more trusted battery supply chain and the challenges that remain in scaling best practices.

Circulor and Panasonic, the largest battery maker in the world, shared how traceability accomplishes and proves responsible sourcing, sustainable production, and growing volumes of recycled content, essential to improving resource security in the realm of critical minerals. They do this by using Circulor’s leading supply chain traceability solution to track raw materials from source, both recycled scrap and mined materials, all the way through the supply chain “to prove who touched what, when, and where”. This is not only increasingly important for Panasonic but also for their customers to satisfy ever-evolving regulatory requirements, including tariffs.

Jeff Werner of Panasonic also shared how traceability builds trust within the system through cross sectoral collaboration, helping companies make the right investments, at a challenging and uncertain time.
